Introduction
The Builder is where the magic happens in Swyvl. It’s your workspace for configuring and customizing projects, transforming raw spatial data into organized, shareable, and actionable virtual experiences. This guide will introduce the key features and functionalities of the Builder, helping you maximize its potential.
What is the Builder?
The Builder is the part of Swyvl where you upload, organize, and configure the elements of your project. It’s designed to be intuitive and flexible, enabling users to manage various types of spatial data and prepare them for seamless viewing and collaboration.
The Builder Layout
1. Toolbar
The toolbar contains tools for adding new elements to your base map.
Draw Tools: Add shapes with info boxes to highlight areas or features.
Photo Tools: Add visual context to your map with still or 360 photos.
Site & Floor Plans: Organize your data by location or level.
Linework: Upload and display linework or shapes.
Imagery: Add georeferenced imagery layers to your map.
3D Data: Add 3D content for spatial context or visualisation.
2. Sidebar
The sidebar is where you manage your project elements and settings.
Project Data: View and manage all data added to your project.
Base Map: Select the base imagery for your map.
Project Settings: Adjust general project settings and preferences.
3. Map Controls
Located at the bottom-right corner of the Builder, these help you control the map view.
Ruler: Measure distances between points on the map.
Floor Plan: Toggle floor plans on and off
Share Current View: Copy a link to the specific view of the project.
Zoom In/Out: Adjust the zoom level of the map.
Target: Center the map on your real-world location.
Home Button: Return to the starting view of your project with a single click.
4. Search & Navigation panel
Find locations and quickly jump to key data items on your map.
Search Bar: Enter an address or place name to quickly locate it on the map.
Navigate To: Jump to predefined points of interest saved within your project.
Add data items to this menu by selecting them in the Sidebar, opening their Properties Panel, and enabling ‘Navigate To’ in the Manage tab.
Tips for Using the Builder
Organize Data: Use folders in the Data Sources panel to keep your project elements organized.
Preview Frequently: Test how your project will appear in the Viewer by Publishing your project.
