Navigate published Swyvl projects

Introduction

The Viewer is the interface used by people with a published Swyvl link to explore your projects. It allows viewers to interact with maps, points of interest, and 360 virtual tours, providing a seamless way to explore detailed spatial data and immersive virtual experiences.

This guide explains how to navigate the Viewer and interact with the published content.


Navigating the Map

Core Interactions

  • Pan the Map:

    • Left-click and drag your mouse to move the map in any direction.

    • On touch devices, drag with your finger.

  • Rotate the View:

    • Middle-click and drag your mouse to rotate the map view.

    • Alternatively, press CTRL + Left-click and drag.

  • Zoom In/Out:

    • Use the scroll wheel on your mouse or pinch in/out on a touch device.

  • Select Points of Interest:

    • Click on map markers or icons to open details or access 360 photo tours.

  • Layers and Options:

    • Use the layer control in the upper-right corner to switch between different map views or enable additional data layers.

  • Navigate To:

    • Select from predefined locations to jump directly to key points of interest.


360 Photo Tours

Entering and Navigating a Tour

  • Enter Detailed View:

    • Click on a 360 Photo Tour hotspot on the map to open an immersive view.

  • Mouse Interaction:

    • Click and drag to look around the 360 view.

    • Use the navigation arrows to move between linked locations.

  • Touch Interaction:

    • Tap and drag to rotate the view.

    • Tap navigation arrows to move forward or to another location.

  • Keyboard Interaction:

    • Use the arrow keys to rotate the view left, right, up, or down.

    • Press . or , to move to the next or previous location.


Adjusting the 360 Photo Tour View

  • Close 360 Photo Tour:

    • Click the Close button in the top-right corner of the 360 view to return to the map.

  • Resize the Tour Window:

    • Press the 50:50 Split button to switch to a side-by-side view with the map.

    • Select the Full-Screen button to expand the 360 view to fill the entire Viewer.


Tips for Viewers

  • Use Search and Shortcuts: Quickly locate key areas by using the map’s search bar or predefined navigation points.

  • Explore Layer Options: Toggle map layers to reveal terrain, satellite imagery, or other data overlays.

  • Optimize Your Device: The Viewer works best on devices with updated browsers for smooth navigation and interaction.
