Uploading 360 Video

Learn how to upload immersive 360-degree video and attach it to a point on your map.

Updated today

360 video lets you capture and share dynamic, immersive environments β€” events, site activity, interiors, or anywhere that benefits from the ability to look around in every direction during playback.

In Swyvl, you can upload a 360 video and pin it to a specific location on the map. Viewers click the point to open the video in a spherical viewer where they can look around freely while the video plays.

Step 1: Upload Your 360 Video

  1. Open your Project in the Builder.

  2. In the Toolbar, click Video Tools > 360 Video.

  3. In the "Choose Your 360 Video Style" dialog, click Get started under 360 Video to Point.

  4. Upload your 360 .mp4 file, or choose an existing video from your Resources folder.

  5. Swyvl will process the video and place it as a point on the map.

Step 2: View Your 360 Video

Click the point on the map to open the 360 video viewer. During playback, you can:

  • Look around in any direction by clicking and dragging.

  • Play, pause, and scrub the video timeline.

⚠️ Tips & Troubleshooting

  • 360 video looks distorted or flat? Your video must be in equirectangular format. Some 360 cameras record in raw fisheye by default β€” use your camera's app or processing software to export as equirectangular before uploading to Swyvl. Most 360 cameras (such as the Ricoh Theta X or Insta360) support this in their export settings.

  • Video not playing? Swyvl supports .mp4 files. If your video is in a different format, convert it to .mp4 before uploading.

You're Done

Your 360 video is now part of your Swyvl project. You can reposition it, or remove it anytime from the Project Data Sidebar.
