How to Create Your First Project

Learn how to start a new project, set your location and configure the inital map view.

Updated this week

This guide explains how to start a fresh project. A Project is where you will build your map and add all your photos and data.

Steps

1. Go to the Dashboard

When you log in to Swyvl, you start on the Dashboard. This is your home screen where you can see all your projects.

2. Click "New Project"

Click the New Project button in the top right corner. This will immediately open the Builder interface.

Select New Project to begin

3. Name Your Project

Navigate to the Sidebar on the left and click the Project Settings tab. Enter a name for your project in the text field.

Confirm your location by clicking Set Start View. Note: You can change this view later in the Project Settings tab.

4. Set Your Location

Type an address into the Search Bar (top left) or zoom to find your site. Adjust the zoom and angle until you are happy with the view, then click Set Start View on the location popup.

You can change this view later in the Project Settings tab.

5. Choose Your Basemap

By default, your map uses OpenStreetMap. To change this, click the Basemap tab in the Sidebar and select a different style.

6. Start Building

Now that your location is set, you can start adding data. Use the Toolbar at the top to add 360 Photos, 3D Models, Site Plans and more.

7. Publish Your Project

When you are ready to share, click Publish to Viewer in the top right corner. You can optionally add a password, then click Publish to generate your shareable link.
