Managing the Start View

Learn how to set the exact camera angle, zoom, and position your viewers see when they first open your project.

Updated over a month ago

The Start View is the "First Impression" of your project. It defines exactly where the camera is positioned when a user opens the Viewer. A well-chosen start view instantly orients the user and highlights the most important part of your site.

How to Set the Start View

  1. Position Your Camera:

    • In the Builder, move the map to the exact view you want.

    • You can Pan, Zoom, Rotate, and Tilt the camera to get the perfect angle.

  2. Open Project Settings:

    • Click the Settings Icon (gear) on the left sidebar.

  3. Save the View:

    • Scroll down to the Starting camera section.

    • Click Set as current.

  4. Publish:

    • You must Republish your project to make this change live for your viewers.

Tips for a Great Start View

  • Context: Zoom out enough to show surrounding landmarks (like roads or coastlines) so users know where they are.

  • Focus: Center your main subject (e.g., the building or site plan) in the middle of the screen.

  • Angle: A slight 45-degree tilt often looks more professional and 3D than a flat top-down view.
